In Australia we have around 170 species of snakes including sea snakes and land snakes, 30 of which are considered to have life-threatening venom.
Bob believes the most effective first – aid treatment for venomous snakes and many creatures is the pressure and immobilisation technique. (Check out the demonstration clip on the home page).
Unlike many first aid kits that contain non-elastic crepe bandages, this kit has three 10cm wide compression bandages that can maintain the correct pressure and will remain tight during the transport of the bitten person. Three bandages are necessary to apply pressure completely to an adult leg.
The included first aid instructions can equip you with the know-how to handle bites and stings from the following deadly Australian creatures: land and sea snakes, funnel web spiders, blue ringed octopus, and cone shells. The instruction sheet demonstrates pressure and immobilization for snake bite treatment. It is the same treatment for the other dangerous creatures.
A must have in all first aid kits, backpacks and glove boxes. Ideal for reptile handlers and bush walkers alike.
